Plugins

JEM plugins extend how JEM integrates with Joomla content, Smart Search, notifications, comments, user accounts, scheduled tasks, administrator activity logs and the Joomla dashboard. They are installed with the full JEM package and can be enabled or disabled depending on the features used by the site.

Only enable the plugins required by your site. Some plugins need additional configuration or depend on Joomla features such as Smart Search, User Actions Log or Task Scheduler.

Available JEM Plugins

JEM 5.0.1 and JEM 5.0.2 Beta 1 include the following official plugins:

Action Log Plugin	`actionlog`	Record selected JEM administrator operations in Joomla User Actions Log.
Notificatin Task Plugin	notifications	connects JEM's notification queue and reservation reminders to Joomla's native Scheduled Tasks system

Enable or Disable JEM Plugins

JEM plugins are managed through the Joomla plugin manager.

Log in to the Joomla administrator area.
Go to System → Manage → Plugins.
Search for JEM.
Open the plugin you want to configure.
Review the plugin options and dependencies.
Enable or disable the plugin as required.
Save the plugin.
Clear the Joomla cache if the change is not visible immediately.

Do not disable a plugin used by the site without testing first. For example, disabling the Mailer plugin may stop JEM notification emails, while disabling the Smart Search plugin may remove JEM content from search results after the index is rebuilt.

Content Plugins

Content plugins are used inside Joomla articles or other content areas where Joomla content plugins are processed.

Content List Events Plugin: displays JEM event lists in content, with options for event state, featured state, title, date, time, category, venue, maximum number of events and a custom no-events message.
Embed Plugin: embeds JEM-related output in content and can require configured API tokens when token protection is enabled.

Content plugin tags are processed only in contexts where Joomla content plugins are enabled. If a tag appears as plain text, check the tag syntax, editor, content filters and whether plugins are processed in that context.

Smart Search Plugin

The JEM Smart Search plugin integrates JEM content with Joomla Smart Search. Enable it when events or other supported JEM resources should be included in the site's search index.

Enable the JEM Smart Search plugin.
Open the Joomla Smart Search indexer.
Rebuild or update the search index.
Test the resulting frontend search results.

JEM Group Plugins

Plugins in the jem group extend JEM-specific behaviour.

Comments Plugin: connects supported comment systems to JEM. The current JEM 5.0.x plugin supports no comments or JComments integration.
Mailer Plugin: manages notification profiles for registration, cancellation, event and venue operations.

Email delivery also depends on Joomla's global mail configuration. If JEM notifications are not sent, check both the JEM Mailer plugin settings and Joomla's mail settings.

Quick Icon Plugin

The JEM Quick Icon plugin adds a shortcut to the Joomla administrator dashboard. It is useful for administrators who need quick access to the JEM Control Panel or the event creation form.

The shortcut is displayed only when the administrator dashboard contains a Quick Icons module and the current user is authorised to manage JEM.

Action Log Plugin

The JEM Action Log plugin integrates selected JEM operations with Joomla's standard User Actions Log. It can record which administrator created, changed, published, archived, trashed or deleted supported JEM resources.

The plugin can record operations involving:

Events.
Venues.
Categories.
Event types.
JEM groups.
Backend attendees and registrations.
Attachments.
JEM global settings.
Successful authenticated email invitations.

Two settings are required: the JEM - Action Log plugin must be enabled and Joomla User Actions Log must be set to Yes in JEM Global Settings. The JEM global option is disabled by default.

Each resource type can be enabled or disabled independently in the Action Log plugin configuration.

Successful email invitation records contain the authenticated sender and the referenced JEM resource. Recipient addresses, subjects and message bodies are deliberately excluded from the User Actions Log.

Administrators can view the records in Joomla User Actions Log. Access to those records is controlled by Joomla permissions rather than by the plugin.

After Updating JEM

After updating JEM, review plugin status and configuration. New JEM versions can add plugin options or change how notifications, action logs, search indexing or content output work.

Check that all required JEM plugins are enabled.
Review plugin options after major updates.
Rebuild the Smart Search index if indexed content has changed.
Test mail notifications if the site uses event registrations or frontend submissions.
Test content output in articles that use JEM plugin tags.
If User Actions Log is required, verify both the Action Log plugin and the global JEM Action Log setting.
Confirm that only authorised administrators can view Joomla User Actions Log.

Troubleshooting

A plugin is installed but does not work

Check that the plugin is enabled.
Check that the plugin belongs to the expected group.
Review the plugin options and external dependencies.
Clear the Joomla cache.
Check whether the feature also depends on Joomla or JEM settings, such as Smart Search, mail configuration or User Actions Log.

Content plugin tags are shown as plain text

Check that the relevant JEM content plugin is enabled.
Check that content plugins are processed in that article or module context.
Check that the tag syntax is correct.
Check editor and text filter settings if the tag is changed after saving.

JEM content does not appear in search results

Enable the JEM Smart Search plugin.
Rebuild the Joomla Smart Search index.
Check the event publication state, access level, category state and language.

Notification emails are not sent

Check the JEM Mailer plugin settings.
Check Joomla's global mail configuration.
Check whether the relevant notification profile is enabled.
Check spam folders and server mail logs if available.

JEM actions do not appear in User Actions Log

Enable the JEM - Action Log plugin.
Enable Joomla User Actions Log in JEM Global Settings.
Check that the relevant resource option is enabled in the plugin.
Verify that the operation is within the documented Action Log scope.
Check that the current administrator can access Joomla User Actions Log.

JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4 Plugin Additions

JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4 retains the JEM 5.0.x plugins and adds two technical integration plugins for the expanded registration and notification system. It also extends the Action Log plugin.

Task - JEM Notifications	`task`	Processes scheduled JEM reminders and automatic notification retries through Joomla's native Task Scheduler.
User - JEM registration protection	`user`	Prevents deletion of Joomla user accounts that own active registrations for future JEM events.
JEM - Action Log enhancement	`actionlog`	Adds optional records for administrator retry and resend requests involving persisted registration notifications.

JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4 is a development release. Test its scheduled tasks, notification processing and registration workflows before using them on a production site.
