My Attendances Timeline gives each signed-in user a chronological view of the JEM events for which that user has registered.
Registration-based view: this timeline does not show events merely because the user created or can edit them. An event appears when the current user has a registration for it and the event passes the configured date, publication and access checks.
Create the Menu Item
- Open Menus in the Joomla administrator and create a new menu item.
- Select JEM → My Attendances Timeline as the menu-item type.
- Place it below the site's User Area or account menu.
- Set Joomla Access to Registered or to the custom access level intended for attendees.
- Configure the registration filter, timeline presentation and optional page text described below.
- Save the menu item and test it with a user who has current and past registrations.
What the Timeline Displays
Timeline axis
- One point and card for each matching registered event.
- Event date beside the point when Show date on timeline is enabled.
- Start and end time when the event has a valid date and global time display is enabled.
- Open-date text for events without a fixed start date.
Event card
- Event title, with a detail-page link when event details are enabled.
- Recurrence and publication-state icons when applicable.
- Venue, city, state, country and categories according to the inherited JEM display settings.
- Booked places, attendance status and the user's registration comment when comments are enabled.
The timeline also respects JEM's global filter and display-limit controls. When enabled globally, users can search visible event data and select the number of registrations shown per page.
Menu Options
| Option | Internal name | Default | Effect |
| Filter My Registrations |
filtermyregs |
Yes |
Applies the past-days limit. Set to No to show all eligible registrations regardless of age. |
| Past registrations (days) |
myregspast |
1 |
Includes an event until its end date, or start date when no end date exists, is older than this number of days. It has no effect when Filter My Registrations is disabled. |
| Timeline event position |
timeline_side |
Right |
Places all event cards on the right, all on the left or alternately on both sides of the vertical axis. |
| Show date on timeline |
timeline_show_axis_date |
Yes |
Shows or hides the event date next to each timeline point. Event times may still be displayed when global time display is enabled. |
| Show Introtext |
showintrotext |
No |
Enables the Introtext field in the menu configuration. See the current implementation note below. |
| Introtext |
introtext |
Empty |
Safe HTML intended for display above the timeline. |
| Show footer text |
showfootertext |
No |
Enables the custom footer below the timeline and pagination. |
| Footer Text |
footertext |
Empty |
Safe HTML displayed below the timeline when Show footer text is enabled. |
Current implementation note: the My Attendances Timeline menu XML exposes Show Introtext and Introtext, but the current timeline template does not render the introductory text. Footer Text is rendered normally. If introductory content is required, use the Joomla page heading, a module assigned above the component or a template override until the implementation is aligned.
How the Past-Days Filter Works
With the default values, JEM hides a registration only after the event's effective final date is more than one day in the past. Multi-day events remain visible until their end date passes the configured threshold. Events without a start date are retained because they cannot be classified as past.
| Configuration | Result |
Filter = Yes; Past days = 0 |
Focuses on events that have not already finished before today. |
Filter = Yes; Past days = 1 |
Keeps recently completed events visible for approximately one additional day; this is the default. |
Filter = Yes; Past days = 30 |
Provides a rolling view containing upcoming events and registrations completed during roughly the last month. |
| Filter = No |
Does not apply the past-days condition; all otherwise eligible registrations can appear. |
Right, Left and Alternate Layouts
- Right: dates and times appear to the left of the axis and all event cards appear to its right. This is the default and usually the easiest layout to scan.
- Left: event cards appear to the left and the date/time block appears to the right.
- Alternate: successive event cards switch sides, producing a balanced visual timeline on wider screens.
- Small screens: all three choices collapse to a practical single-card side so the content remains readable on mobile devices.
Registration and Access Rules
- The database selection is limited to registrations belonging to the current Joomla user.
- Normal mode includes published and unpublished events available to the view; the Archive action selects archived events separately.
- The event category must be published.
- Both the event and its category must be within one of the current user's authorised Joomla view-access levels.
- If the same event has several category relations, it is still presented as one timeline item.
- A registration status can be registered, waiting, invited, not attending or another status supported by the event configuration; the displayed control reflects the saved registration.
Login is mandatory. A guest who opens this route is redirected to the Joomla login page with a return URL. After successful login, Joomla can return the user to My Attendances Timeline. Setting the menu item itself to Registered keeps the link out of the guest menu as well.
Timeline Compared with Related Views
| View | Use it for | Main difference |
| My Attendances |
Detailed review, filtering and comparison of registrations in rows and columns |
Table/list presentation with configurable columns such as places, status and comment. |
| My Attendances Timeline |
Chronological browsing of the same user's registrations |
Visual axis and event cards; fewer column-specific menu options. |
| My Timeline |
Personal calendar, planning, activity history or event diary |
Selects events by personal-purpose metadata and can optionally add registered events. |
| My Events |
Managing events available to the user |
Based on ownership and editing permissions, not attendance. |
Dates and Time Zones
Timeline order is based on the stored event date and start time. The visible time follows the event's configured time reference: Joomla timezone, Venue timezone or a custom event timezone. When Venue timezone is used, the timezone stored in the venue must be correct.
All-day and open-date events can be displayed without a time. A multi-day registration uses the event's end date when JEM decides whether it is older than the configured past-days limit.
Practical Examples
Enable Filter My Registrations, use 0 or 1 past day, place cards on the right and show dates on the axis. This creates a compact account page focused on current bookings.
Use a 30- or 90-day past range and Alternate placement. Users can review recent attendance while still seeing upcoming registrations in the same sequence.
Disable Filter My Registrations to remove the rolling date limit. Keep pagination enabled globally so an account with many registrations does not produce an excessively long page.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
| The visitor is redirected to login |
This is expected for guests. Confirm that login succeeds and returns the user to the original timeline URL. |
| A registered event is missing |
Check the signed-in account, registration record, past-days filter, event state, category state and access levels. |
| An old event remains visible |
For multi-day events, filtering uses the end date. Also confirm that Filter My Registrations is enabled and that Past registrations contains a valid integer. |
| The configured intro text is absent |
This is a current timeline-template limitation. Use the page heading or a module above the component; footer text remains available. |
| Venue or location metadata is absent |
Review the inherited global JEM settings for venue, city, state, country and category display. |
| The timeline looks one-sided on mobile |
This is intentional responsive behaviour; Left and Alternate layouts collapse to the readable mobile arrangement. |
Before Publishing
- Set the menu item to Registered or the intended attendee access level.
- Test with a guest, a user without registrations and users with current and past registrations.
- Verify all three card positions on desktop and the responsive layout on mobile.
- Check open-date, all-day, timed and multi-day events.
- Confirm that places, status and comments show only the expected registration information.
- Test pagination, print and archive actions when they are enabled by the site configuration.
