ComponentsJEMSettingsEvent Page

Purpose

Event Page controls the single-event view: structure, images, event facts, category and author links, contacts, venue information, registration, online meetings and associated Joomla articles.

Event presentation

  • Choose the event detail layout and image arrangement, then decide whether the title, description, publication state and browser-title date are visible.
  • Configure category, author and contact visibility independently from whether those values are links.
  • Contact fields and contact description can expose personal data; publish only the fields required by the event workflow.
  • Print, email, iCal, read-more and intro-text controls affect the available actions and content duplication.

Associated Joomla articles

Associated Articles can provide long-form editorial content while JEM keeps the event data. Configure title templates, access, image handling, date source, recurring-event strategy and which event fields populate the article. Automatic creation must respect Joomla's core.create permission in the selected Joomla article category. If the user lacks permission, save the event without creating the article and show the warning.

Venue block

Choose compact or expanded venue presentation, address and description visibility, the venue link target and map provider. Google Maps modes may require API credentials from Global Parameters; OpenStreetMap modes do not use those Google credentials.

Registration

Show or hide registration, counters and additional attendee states. Restrict attendee-name visibility to the smallest audience that needs it. Ordering changes presentation only; it does not grant access. Community integration can link names or avatars to supported profiles.

Online meetings and external links

Online meetings are separate from generic links. Decide whether the meeting is displayed, exported through the ICS CONFERENCE property and repeated in the ICS description for clients that ignore that property. Restrict accepted URL schemes and image extensions to the minimum needed; normally keep http and https, adding mailto or tel only when required.

Recommended use cases

  • Conference: show contacts and registration counters, keep attendee names limited to registered/attending users, and use associated articles for speaker programmes.
  • Hybrid event: show the dedicated online meeting block and enable both ICS conference and description fallback.
  • Public authority: show publication state only to audiences that need it and minimise exposed contact fields.

Configuration options

The table is derived from admin/models/forms/settings.xml and the current English language strings. Internal names are included for support, migration and troubleshooting. Defaults can differ on upgraded installations because existing values are preserved.
