JEM 5.1.0 Beta 5 Feature preview

Correct 5.1 resource-aware ACL migration and frontend editor decisions: preserve existing rules, enforce category permissions across selected categories, retain parent selection, and fix Type publication controls.

Handle imported events whose stored attributes are NULL in the 5.1 event readers and normalize or repair those values without changing valid event attributes.
The shared RC 1 entries below also cover import/CSV corrections (#2363), RSS/Atom feeds (#2373) and iCalendar exports (#2375). A visual seat-map editor, payment collection and a new calendar engine are not part of this beta.

16 October: associated articles as read-only event-content sources

2026-10-16 — Protect existing Joomla articles used as event-content sources from changes when an event is saved. Add per-event Read-only source and Use Settings policy choices; apply explicit update policy to text, metadata and images while preserving article generation and recurrence associations.
When an event reads an existing Joomla article, edit that source in Joomla Articles. The event reflects its updated content after any cache refresh. Save the association before explicitly enabling event-to-article updates. Older associations without an update choice remain read-only; the change does not restore text overwritten by an older build.

18–21 October: calendar exports, publication and import integrity

Export timezone-aware event boundaries with date-specific UTC offsets, keep truly floating and all-day events distinct, and avoid changing source records during iCalendar export.

Update the frontend publication-status field when event categories change and require publication permission in every selected category. Remove overlapping selector hints and move Venue publication status into Details.

Preserve existing values during CSV updates, reject unsafe ID-renumbering restores, roll back failed batches, correct migration mappings, and improve catalog XML and timezone-aware ICS imports.
24–25 October: feeds, remaining import cases and iCalendar status

Restore Joomla 6 RSS feed compatibility and correct the Venue feed access check. This maintenance-branch fix has a corresponding implementation in 5.1.0.
