Before Making Changes

When documentation leads to a change on a live site, use a careful workflow.

  • Check the installed Joomla and JEM versions before following version-specific instructions.
  • Make a full backup before installing, updating, upgrading, importing, exporting, or deleting data.
  • Test major changes on a staging copy when the site contains production events or registrations.
  • Review custom template overrides and custom CSS after JEM updates.
  • Clear Joomla and browser cache after layout, CSS, language, or menu item changes.
