ics file: Replacing location text by URL: to videoconferencing room

Good evening. 

Is there a chance (settings, override, ...) to replace the location string in the ics calendar file with an URL pointing to our video conferencing room? For video conferencings it would be nice to have a clickable link to conference room.  That could be as URL propoerty or in location. 


In our setup there is a venue named " Videokonferenz - PCAG Treff " . This is currently shown in the ics file. 
The field website of this venue contains the video conferencing link. 

In JEM settings, global settings the field "Show Weblink to Venue" is set to link to url. 

So when displaying the event page it is possible to click on the "Videokonferenz - PCAG-Treff" - but when exporting the ics file only the name used (not the link to) 
 

Interesting point to include a solution for webinars and online event events in the venues.

I tried it with the link in the description of the event, but this does not show up in the description of the ICS file.
In the description, there is the link to the event on the website, but the same link is already there under URL. To put it there twice does not make sense.
If we provide a URL for the venue, then this link is active in the venue name. It would be nice to have the venue link somewhere in the ICS file.
I'm not sure about ICS specifications. I guess this needs some research to see, if we can find a solution for the venue link.

I just checked it out: there is a property CONFERENCE, see www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc7986#section-5.11 .
When I insert CONFERENCE;VALUE=URI:https://example.com/location/45 into an ICS file then in my calendar, I am offered to join the conference by clicking on the link.

The question now is, how to include the URL in the ICS file only if it is an online event. 
I will open an issue on GitHub.




 

Google import ignores the CONFERENCE property but allows/keeps links in the DESCRIPTION property. 

So to be safe: We need a possibility to

• add a CONFERENCE property with a link to the conference
• modify the DESCRIPTION to add  link to conference

and most likely a new field in the event table holding the link and be indicator (not empty) for web conference. 

or a simple version: add just the value of the venue field "website" to description (in addition to the link to the event page)
