Up until now, I’ve been using a template like this in the descriptions:
Code:
<p style="float: right; font-size: 0.75em; width: 300px; height: auto; line-height: 1.1em; margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px;"><img style="width: 300px; height: auto; border: 1px black solid;" src="images/jem/events/image1245234.jpg" alt="photo" border="0" />caption. credits: <a title="externer Link: wikimedia.org (2024-11)" href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/image.jpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">John Doo</a>, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0</p>

and would like to have the site maintained by people who have no idea about html.
Therefore, a simple GUI extension in the backend would be nice.

Hi mercuri,

The warning points to an Atum template override, which may be outdated:
administrator/templates/atum/html/com_jem/events/default.php

On your local test site, please temporarily rename this file to default.php.disabled, then reload the event list and try editing an event again. This preserves your customisation while allowing Joomla to use JEM’s current layout.

This should help us identify whether the override also causes “Editing not permitted”, or whether there is a separate permissions issue.

If editing is still blocked, please confirm whether your account belongs to Administrator or Super Users, and whether the PHP warning has disappeared.

Thank you for testing.

Hi mercuri,

Your example makes the requirement clear: editors should be able to maintain captions and linked credits without writing HTML.

I have improved the interface for event, venue and category images, in both the backend and frontend. Caption now has a small bold/italic editor, while Photo credit / licence lets you add or remove links by selecting the text.

Both fields are grouped under Caption and credit (optional). It starts collapsed when empty and expanded when it contains text. You can also choose whether the credit appears below the image or at the bottom of its section.

These improvements are implemented and tested locally. Download the next refreshed JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4 package:
www.joomlaeventmanager.net/download/beta-versions

Please try them with the Advanced operating profile and let us know whether this makes editing easier.

Now, Is it ok?
