Event images: where should captions be entered?

Hi,

a question for the group: where should captions be entered (so that they can subsequently be placed and formatted via a template)?

These consist of:
Title (subtitle). Photo: Author, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
...where "Author" is a hyperlink, and the text itself is, of course, in a "small" font size.

Under JEM > Edit Event: Image, I can select an image.

By default, I cannot add hyperlinks to "custom fields"—unlike in the event descriptions. Do you use custom fields?

I have a Joomla extension workaround called "Regular Labs - Articles Anywhere" which means I can just drop in the code to Custom Fields. The original article will display including hyperlinks.

I create an article called caption-01 for image-01
In custom fields put : |article title="caption-01"| |/article|    (replacing | with curly brackets)

We have added separate Caption and Photo credit / licence fields for event, venue and category images. Credits can appear below the image or at the bottom of its section, and both enlargement modes display captions and credits.

Enable the Advanced operating profile in JEM Settings to edit captions and credits.

@digby: Nice workaround! I think you'll really like this new feature too.

Works ok for me, not much data in my test environment but the link and caption are fine.

One thing I noticed, if the Show as Footer is checked then the words "Image Credit" appears and it's way over on the left underneath the Title, When, Where list.

I unchecked it and typed in "Image Credit: .... link .... it's now correctly under the image.

Well done though, a quick implementation of the suggestion. 😍

I have clarified the credit options and improved the layout in the refreshed JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4:
- Leave Show credit at bottom of section unchecked to display the credit directly below the image, without clicking it.
- Enable it to place the credit below the entire event, venue or category section—not in the website footer.
- Use Credit label to choose the prefix. Selecting None hides only the label; your credit text remains visible.

Captions and credits now wrap within the image width, leaving more space for the event information.

Tell me if now it's OK.
