I'm now looking into making the "JEM Frontend Menu" into an horizontal menu with de subitems in a pull-down menu.
Reason: None of my sites use the sidebar positions
Same question as in another topic: why is there an item "Types" in the frontend menu without subitems ?

If you install first sample and after Jem frontend menue, then you get a filled types. Without sample types is empty. If you want these sample types, you have to export and later to import them into a sites without samples!
The fromtend menue sample is only to show all. I think, you will never use all, you have to decide, what's good for your site and your users. It's not good to give the same info 20 times!
