Hi love JEM.
Is there any way to change the Front End labeling from Category to something like Host/Sponsor/Organiser.
I think this would help my users to understand what this field does.
Or is there a way to add an additional 'sortable' field to events that would operate in a similer way to Category?

You could use a language override. Please check the help in the backend how to do this.

Thanks that put me on the right track.
I've changed the COM_JEM_CATEGORY from Category to Sponsor which changes most of the values but not all the ones I want.
The one I want to change now is the Category label which is shown as part of the JEM>Settings>Layout>Category Column.
I can stop this column displaying entirely (which would work) but, I'd prefer it to show as 'Sponsor'.
Do you know the name of the constant I'd need to change now?

To find the right key yiu can disable the language files, then you will see the key on the place, you had category. Then you add a lanuage override
