Outdated events show up in Joomla Redirection list
Outdated events show up in Joomla Redirection list
8 years 2 months ago
Good morning!
Checking Joomla's redirection component I find tons of addresses causing 404 error: all of them are past and - by default settings - deleted events.
I didn't find a general setting for metadata – except those defining keywords – to tell robots not to index nor to follow an event.
The general Joomla config is of course set to "index, follow" which means I cannot use "default" in metadata of each single event. Do I understand it right that I have to deactivate robot activity for every single event manually?
Of course, I still want the event to be found by search engines – but how to tell them when it's over? Does anyone of you solved this problem? Thank you for any advice,

Ehm,
just a question for understanding.
1) Why you let the Redirection component of Joomla auto-collect all links?
2) And why it is required for indexing your website?
And currently there doesn't exist a setting "default robot setting for jem". As you seen right, you have to set up the robot index per event.

8 years 2 months ago - 8 years 2 months agoGoogle Webmaster informed me about a significant increase of 404 error reports. So I collected for 24 hours all those links, (over 5000) of which the vast majority came from JEM component, either /event/, /day/, /venueevents/ or /category/ in their paths.Egnarts wrote: 1) Why you let the Redirection component of Joomla auto-collect all links?
Don't understand the question. What do you mean with "it"?2) And why it is required for indexing your website?
Anyway, I changed sitemap for bots to check daily those links leading to events. Haven't heard from Google again. Hope that helped.
