Wishlist: Event description - insert for selected text
Wishlist: Event description - insert for selected text

Large text sometimes looks "ugly" because there is no automatic hyphenation - see example banner module, left card and right card with no hyphenation tags - middle card has manual inserted hypenation tags.
It would be conveniend to have a menu item in the event editor - similar to read later - to insert the hyphenation tag at all hyphenation positions. There are already libraries doing that job. See blurrryy.github.io/
Right now I insert the tag "Ampersand shy;" manually - that works but is work.

I have added native automatic hyphenation (hyphens: auto) to module titles and descriptions where it was missing.
Please test the refreshed JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4 package (now) from the beta downloads page.
www.joomlaeventmanager.net/download/beta-versions
This lets the browser choose word breaks according to the available width, without changing your saved text or inserting . Results depend on the browser and its support for the page’s language.
To improve readability, I would also suggest:
- Make sure the page language matches the content.
- Where the layout allows it, try fewer cards per row to give each description more space.
- Use short summaries and paragraphs, leaving longer explanations for the event details.
- Keep text left-aligned rather than fully justified, especially in narrow cards.
This is a first improvement rather than the requested editor button. Could you test it on desktop and mobile and let us know whether it improves your example? A new screenshot would help.
Thank you for testing!

Please roll back/disable that feature. Automatic hyphenation does not work! I loose control and I am not able to correct mistakes.
We have German text with a lot of complicated words inlcuding English / French words - no tool can do that in a good way.
Instead I will write a small tool where i can submit the text and it provides hyphenation -suggestion what I then can correct.
Sorry for causing additional work.

Thank you for testing and explaining the problem.
You are right: automatic browser hyphenation is not suitable for your mixed-language content or the editorial control you need.
I have reverted the changes introduced by commit 071aa960b and rebuilt JEM 5.1.0 Beta 4, restoring the previous module behavior. Your saved descriptions and manually inserted characters have not been changed.
With German text containing English and French words, letting the browser choose the breaks cannot reliably provide the results you want. Your approach of reviewing and correcting suggestions before inserting them is better suited to this case.
Please download the refreshed package dated 16 October 2026, 20:50 (Madrid) from the beta downloads page, clear the Joomla and browser caches, and confirm that the previous behavior is restored.
No need to apologise, your feedback helped identify the limitation.
Thank you!
