Hi. I just installed JEM 5.0.1 (from 5.0.0). 

The German language file is not used that means everywhre "Read later" instead of "Weiterlesen", "Where" instead of "Wo" at event details page.

In the page header it is: "xml:lang="de-de" lang="de-de"

Examples: 
pcagev.de/veranstaltungen
pcagev.de/pcag-events/event/138:nextcloud-daten-oder-fotos-synchronisieren

My browser language is set to Germany and also Joomla default language to German

Thanks - that solved the issue. It removes version v4.x.x of "com_jem_de-DE" and installed v5.01.

When updating JEM do I have to update the language pack manually?

Regarding documentation:
On the download page " www.joomlaeventmanager.net/download " it is stated:
These are the language packs for JEM 4.x. .... and then all packages have version 5.0.1

I guess the packages are for version 4 and version 5?
