This issue only affects JEM 5.0.1 Beta 1 and Beta 2. It does not exist in JEM 5.0.0.
Thanks for reporting it.
As part of issue #2286, the JEM permissions were made more granular.
The backend Event and Venue forms disabled the "Created by" field whenever the current user lacked core.manage on com_users. That Joomla core action governs user-account management and is granted almost exclusively to Super Users, so any admin with full JEM edit rights but without com_users access saw the field silently ignore their selection and revert to the original author on save.
Replace the check with dedicated jem.events.edit.created and jem.venues.edit.created ACL actions, following the same granular policy introduced in #2286 for edit.state/edit.own. Update the migration in script.php to grant the new actions to groups that already had core.edit, preserving current behaviour on upgrade, and extend the unit/static ACL tests and permission docs accordingly.
FIx in this commit:
github.com/jemproject/JEM-Project/commit/74eda04588081f8fc75eea138b2ec2d114531799
It will be included in the next refresh of JEM 5.0.1 beta 2 zip file.

I installed JEM 5.0.0, so the problem is in that version too, I'm afraid.
I hope that a new update, that fixes the problem, comes soon ...

Have you tested the JEM 5.0.1 beta? The fix is already included in this version.

I prefer not to install Beta versions. I hope there will be a stable 5.0.1 version soon that can be installed.

OK. You now have the JEM 5.0.1 RC available. If you'd like, you can test it in a staging environment to verify that this issue has been fixed. The final release is planned for next week.
