Simplelist events from parent category

I created a parent category and a few subcategories. I want to display list of events in Simplelist where I define only one category ID (parent category) and to see on the list all events from subcategories. It doesn't work this way. When I include parent category ID it doesn't show anything. It works only when I include each subcategories' IDs.

Is this how it's suppose to work? Am I missing something? Is there a workaround?

at the moment it is like this, that you need to set every single category ID.
Nesting of categories is for us humans to have an overview and order, but it has no display functionality.

Could be a interesting feature for the future.

Feature add to eventlist view. Now you can indicated 'Include Subcatecories' for the list categories above (Categoryswitch Categories).
