Thats true. When you update the Joomla search is still there, when you start a new installation, then there is only finder.

Sorry, but that's not true. Just installed dev version of JEM on new Joomla 5.1 site and search plugin is still installed.

surely you're right, I only say that Joomla in a new installation doesn't have anymore the search extension, only the finder. But when you update from earlier (J3) Joomla, the search extension is not yet eliminated and works.
Because of that, we let the search plugin here.

Only when you update to Joomla 4. In Joomla 5 com_search doesn't work anymore.

I can contribute by testing, but I am not a developer, so I can't help with coding unfortunately.

Yesterday, it was others commit in the JEM Finder plugin branch (step by step). It's in dev, when it finishs and I'll send a message to test it. Thanks for your interest and help.
