update problems
1 week 3 days ago
Updated joomla to 5.4.7 and jem to 5.0.0 the "edit own events" no longer work users can edit anyone's events and where there is a recurring event they are duplicated repeatedly so for each recurrence duration each event is copied +1+2+3. I'm just asking if anyone else has had the same problems and found a cure. I don't want to get into technical detail - just asking.

No JEM update modifies existing event data, nor does it create new events (or make them recurring). Did you import events? How did you perform the update? What versions were you running before? This looks like it might be a procedural issue—could you detail the steps you followed so we can try to reproduce it?

As I said I just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar problem, there's not much discussion because I am down to hacking the database to fix it (zeroing recurrence fields and putting DB triggers in to continue zeroing). Please close or delete this thread.

I was trying to understand the steps you took during the update so I could provide support. It seems like the issue was related to the import process. I'm glad you found a workaround to solve it.

Carefully deleting the duplicates is working but I didn't perform any imports I upgraded joomla and updated JEM - three hours later I got a phone call telling me classes were duplicated - that's life in all it's glory. I am starting to suspect that now that "edit own events" isn't working a user got trigger happy playing with others events.

In this version, JEM 5.0.0 has an option to activate the user action log. This allows you to track user activities within the component. So, it can keep a log of who makes changes and what they do.
