Import from CSV

Import from CSV

Dear Support-Team,
I need your help after spending hours testing it myself. I imported events via CSV in the old version, JEM 2.3.6, without any problems many years. I'm having major problems with the new version, Joomla 5 / JEM 4.3.3. I keep getting error messages, and the events aren't being imported. What exactly does the CSV file need to look like? How does it need to be converted? What settings does JEM need? I'd be happy to give you access to the installation (it's not live yet) and send you the Excel spreadsheet of the events.

Best Regards
Kathleen

Thank you for your awnser!

Yes, I use it. With these table entries: dates times title introtext datimage custom1 categories access

Saved as CSV.
I've also tried CSV + UTF8 and CSV and UTF8 + BOM (including the settings in JEM).

've also tried: id dates times title created introtext datimage custom1 access categories

I've also tried: Replace if ID exists (otherwise create a new one).

What I'm currently doing: Import all events into JEM 2.3.6, then export them again, and then import this CSV into JEM 4.3.3. That works. But it's certainly not the right way.

How do I set up and save the CSV from Excel to make it work?

I get error messages like this: 10 fields found.
10 fields are readable and are being imported.
Total records found: 4
Total records with errors: 4 [Event ID: 1,,,]

Thank you for your help

@webkonzept-kathleen Have you solved it? If not, send me a PM with the all export files (from JEM) so I can review it.

I’ve received 2 files — one of them contains 90 events from JEM 4.3.3.
That’s fine, but in your case, it’s unusual because you’re importing data from JEM 2.3.6 into JEM 4.3.3, and the database structure is different.

When exporting from JEM 2.3.6, you should have 4 files:
events.csv
categories.csv
venues.csv
catevents.csv

You need all of them to import correctly into 4.3.3. Otherwise, you’ll lose the associations between event IDs and their related categories and venues.

Do you have the 4 export files from JEM 2.3.6? You have to import in this order:
categories, venues, events, catevents

I don't want to export from JEM 2.3.6. This was just a workaround. I simply want to import events (see the file Dates_November_January_2025_) into JEM 4.3.3. What exactly should the CSV file look like, how should it be saved, and what settings should be configured? All imported events should also be published and visible immediately. This hasn't worked so far either. Can you modify my file so that I can use it as a template and example? Which fields must be included? Etc.

:-) Thank you and regards
Kathleen
