JEM 2.3.x (Joomla 3)–image/event media inconsistency when using external editor

Hi all,I’m running JEM 2.3.x on Joomla 3 and noticed some odd behavior with event images when I process them through<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}--> like CapCut.Setup:

• Event images/posters uploaded via JEM
• Download → quick edits in CapCut (resizing, overlays, short promo clips)
• Re-upload back into JEM events

Issue:

• Images look fine initially, but after re-upload they sometimes appear softer or slightly different in contrast
• Thumbnails don’t always match the original after regeneration
• In some cases, changes don’t reflect unless cache is cleared manually

What I tried:

• Different formats (JPG/PNG/WebP)
• Regenerating thumbnails
• Checking Joomla media settings + cache

Still seeing inconsistent results when looping assets through this workflow.

Just adding a bit more detail after testing this further. The issue happens more consistently when I edit from and then re-upload them back into the same ’m seeing now more clearly:

• Even when the resolution and format stay the same, the thumbnails generated by JEM sometimes look slightly softer or less sharp compared to the original upload
• The difference is not always visible in the main event image, but shows up more in category/module views
• It seems more noticeable after multiple edit/re-upload cycles of the same asset
• Clearing cache helps, but the inconsistency can still come back after updates or thumbnail regeneration

Just trying to figure out if this is expected behavior from JEM’s thumbnail processing, Joomla’s media handling, or if there are specific export settings I should be using before bringing assets back into the system.

Thanks for reporting.
I'm sorry to tell you that we do not work on JEM 2.3.x anymore, since Joomla 3 is outdated and not maintained anymore. So no security patches etc. are available anymore.

Please take measures to update your site at least to Joomla 5 as soon as possible.
