Also when I first edited Default . php it created Default-20230527-013408 . php and then Default-20230527-020229 . php with the original line 31. I edited those as well and saved but no change.

Uhhh. that isn't the file, the file to modify is in \modules\mod_jem_cal\tmpl\default.php.

But, I see that you have override the JEM cal module, that can be the error, this override file was old and it doesn't update.
I don't know why you have the overrides (custom) of this module, but you can try this:
- Delefe that overrides of JEM cal module: you just have to delete \templates\protostar\html\mod_jem_cal folder (o if you prefer rename the diretory mod_jem_cal) and check if issue is solved.

That is not the cause of the error. I had the overrides because I accidently clicked on them while trying to figure out your instructions yesterday. I have only been using joomla for a very short time and I'm not familiar with it. SO I was just clicking on all kinds of things trying to find out where it was you were asking me to go and edit.

I deleted the other ones and now I only have Default . php in that folder. I can't find a folder for \modules\mod_jem_cal\tmpl\ when I'm inside of the Joomla Management console.

Please see the screenshot attached. And you're telling me this is not the correct place to edit Default . php if not could you please explain to me where I need to go to edit the Default?

Ok I completely uninstalled JEM 2.3.6 from the host, and then reinstalled it. And the hostmaster gave me ftp access and I was able to get in to /modules/mod_jem_cal/tmpl/ and uploaded a modified copy of default php that has line 31 modified as you suggested. But there was no change to the cal. tooltips still showing raw html when hovering.

Works without override?
