We're starting to develop a new site. We really would like to move to J4, mostly because of the workflow feature in articles. JEM is holding us back in doing the upgrade. So for now we're sticking to J3. Any news on your J4 findings @Egnarts?
Hey together,
As I think, Joomla 4 is very different. So we are currently investigating how to move JEM to Joomla 4.
I'm sorry, we had no time before the official release of Joomla 4 to develop a compatible version of JEM.

This project is done by spending our freetime so we can not promise. At the end of oktober, I will take a look, if we can proceed.

Greetings,
Egnarts

Hey,
I am sorry, I wrote it to an internal J4 thread and forgot to update the public one:
Here is what I wrote:
Hey together, bad news today.
I took a look on upgrading JEM to Joomla 4. But its more then replacing some classes.
My current progess is published here:  github.com/jemproject/JEM-Project/tree/JEM-4.0.0

With a script from bluefox, we got JEM installable on J4. Then I began to get the backend working.
The control panel and the event table in backend are visible (not good-looking, not full functionable).
After that, I tried to get the "Add Event" funktion working, but at this point, I stopped my work.

The problem:
JEM uses functions of J2.5 that aren't available in J4. Partitionally the are removed without replacement.
After some testing I found out, that also lot of Javascript handling of form entries etc. is outdated and does not work anymore.
I think, a whole rework of JEM is required.

In the end, I had to realize, that I don't have the skills of Joomla development and free time to move JEM to J4. I'm so sorry.

---

JEM uses functions that were integrated in J2.5. They had been set to deprecated in J3 and now with J4 they are removed.
For example Mootools has been replaced with Bootstrap and jQuery. So all functionality that is based on the old library has to be changed to use Bootstrap and jQuery.
As written in the internal post: I don't have the skills of Joomla development and free time to move JEM to J4. I'm so sorry.

Sorry :(

My way is to replace just in Joomla! 3 mootools with bootstrap! Like that I can always control, what the changes make.
Does someone knows which mootools are used?
behavior.tooltip can be replaced with bootstrap.tooltip
behavior.modal too, but with bootstrap.renderModal. (there are some discussions about that)
EDIT: bootstrap.renderModal seems not to work!

what else...?

If a Joomla 4.* compliant version is not released soon, I will be forced to switch to DPcalendar.
So any news ???

Good Evening all together

I strongly miss JEM in J!4. I have looked around for an alternative and found nothing really as good and fitting my needs as it has done JEM for J!3. Most alternatives are too complicated (maybe too big?), not covering SEO with the needed parts and heavy to adapt to the templates of the sites.
So is there any chance that a J!4 will be published? If so, it's worth to wait for it. But if not (and I can understand if not!) I need to cope in deep with a less good alternative.

Thanks for JEM, even if it may end with J!4.

Best regards
King Louis
