.ics gives me the wrong time on my calendar 6 years 8 months ago #22108

Hi,
What time zone does your client computer think it's in, and what physical time zone are you in? The info you provided suggests it's coming out of the server correctly, but without knowing all the details it's hard to suggest how to fix this issue correctly.

regards,
Edmond

Yes I should have given more info.

I believe the site is hosted somewhere in the US.it is hosted with arvixe. The site is a .ie for IRELAND and users would be in GMT
The calendar on the site does display all the correct times. It's just the downloaded ical is 1hour later.

Today, I create a new Entry in JEM 2.2.0 in Joomla 3.6.5.
Server Timezone: Zurich
Windows 10 Timezone: Europe (Berlin, Bern, Amsterdam etc.)
The Entry is correct in JEM, iPhone, IBM Verse (Notes)
In Outlook 365 Pro Plus the Entry is stored +1 hour although the Timezone is Europe (see above).
Error Message:
"The VEVENT "Probe" defined near line7, contains a property that references an undeclared time zone with TZID of "Europe/Zurich". Outlook found an approximate replacement, but note that some of your appointments may be off by an hour."
I know, that it may be an Outlook 365 only problem, but maybe there is something which could be done to the .ics file or someone has a working hint.
Many thanks.

Meanwhile, I did some investigations on other Joomla-Sites I maintain and where I am using JEM.
There is one Global Parm for TimeZone Setting (Floating or Joomla). On the Site with the 'Outlook-Problem', the parm was set to Joomla. After I changed it to 'Floating'. The Display in Outlook Cal was as expected (correct time, correct date). Although there are still warnings in Outlook "The VEVENT ... contains a floating DTSTART. Outlook supports floating time for all-day events only"
But nevertheless, Items are displayed in Outlook correctly and are still correct in the other clients.

Hence why Outlook is known as "Look Out!" in the IT world! ;)

Hi,
I've seen this issue on my site as well. The problem seems to me that it only happens during daytime saving periods when importing the ical files to Outlook 2016. As suggested by avalon2 I changed my setting from Joomla to float and now it looks ok. Even importing it to Outlook. ;-)
