Hi there,

I am using version 1.0.2. The php version of the site has been upgraded to 5.4 so I am getting this message at the front of the site.

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/.../public_html/modules/mod_eventlist/helper.php on line 116

What version can I use to get rid of that message please?

Thank you!

The error's you're experiencing are familiar but there will be no new version of EL. You can take a look at a version of JEM as it's based on EL and those errors are fixed.

running local: pre-alpha JEM 4.x (custom version) + Joomla 4.0.0beta3 + PHP 7.2.25
running live: jem2.3.0

you're right there is no upgrade but you can try the EL-import function.
-> within Joomla 2.5.x

As jem is a different component it won't overwrite you're EL install and within JEM you can go to the import view and take a look at the EL import tab.

// just some background info.
the thing for not updating Eventlist is that we had to create a fork as the orginal creator was MIA.

H MyWorldi, you can try to solve the problem in this way
Disable on modules/mod_eventlist/helper.php all lines from 115 to 121 by putting forward //
Then add this code
$lists[$i] = new stdClass();
if ($length > $params->get('cuttitle', '18')) {
                $row->title = substr($row->title, 0, $params->get('cuttitle', '18'));
                $row->title = htmlspecialchars( $row->title.'...', ENT_COMPAT, 'UTF-8');
            }
            $lists[$i] = new stdClass();
            $lists[$i]->link        = JRoute::_('index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id='.$row->slug.'&Itemid='.JRequest::getInt('Itemid'));
            $lists[$i]->dateinfo     = modEventListHelper::_builddateinfo($row, $params);
            $lists[$i]->text        = $params->get('showtitloc', 0 ) ? $row->title : htmlspecialchars( $row->venue, ENT_COMPAT, 'UTF-8' );
            $lists[$i]->city        = htmlspecialchars( $row->city, ENT_COMPAT, 'UTF-8' );
            $lists[$i]->venueurl     = !empty( $row->url ) ? modEventListHelper::_format_url($row->url) : null;
            $i++;
        }
You'll see that it works ;)
