Maybe this is too late for this version now, with JEM coming soon. So maybe it's a wish for JEM 2 (if it's not already included).

Can we make featured events? This could be achieved by having a checkbox or switch on the individual events. This would then allow either featured events to be listed first in their category display, and/or display in a module like the upcoming events module, but for featured.

Would love this now, but I understand the development is now on JEM.

@trogladyte

as you're posting it in the EL topic:
- do you want the code so you can apply it to the EL 1.02 version?

with that version it was not possible but it can be added by modifying some code.

This could be achieved by having a checkbox or switch on the individual events

Within JEM there is actually a dropdown box where you can select if the event is featured or not. and featured can also be supported within the modules.

understand the development is now on JEM

that's correct, EL won't be updated but JEM will.

it depends B)

as featured was not supported in EL it as to be added, so it will mean:
- adapting a lot of the models (to include a.featured)
- adding a field (featured)
- then edit the front (editevent)+backend (event) to add a selectbox
- maybe the store/save part has to be addressed too.
- edit css

as you want the option also within the modules you'll have to address the helpers of those modules too.
